Tweet of the Day:
I really enjoyed that episode of Short Treks I would totally fall in love with an awesome computer AI like that too. Wish it wasn’t the distant future, it was fun the ship having a personality and emotions. Next week, Saru’s origins? Aww, that’s gonna be amazing.

So I didn't get fired. I actually saw the owner outside the store when I showed up, and she didn't even know there was a problem so I guess the manager was keeping my "Final warning" and "untrainability" close to the chest. She suggested not wanting to lose me and be willing to switch me stores if I wished. I'm still not convinced the problem isn't just with that one person, and the manager I guess, I really thought the assistant manager and other person training me had no problem with me at all. I mean, I could be wrong.

But then I get inside and find out the other person who had been training me, she'd been yelled at and got in tons of shit. Apparently they thought she'd been stepping in for me too much. There was literally a point during thursday's shift, like the second half of the shift, she stopped paying attention to me and hung out with the timmies people. I went and changed garbages, went for smokes, all while continuing to watch the front. We did exactly the thing that they accused her of not doing. In fact Owner even complimented me, before I asked her if I was fired yet, saying she'd seen on the cameras that I was left alone a lot and doing really well on my own. So like the person telling me I'm about to get fired, and accusing me of all these things I'm insisting I didn't do, and half the people share the same side of the story I do, but apparently we're the side that doesn't matter and the only opinions that matter are the manager and the girl who hates me. EVen the owner, apparently they don't even tlak to her before having serious conversations with me about my "last warnings" so like this is a wonderfully rigged corrupt system that seems to have turned against me.

What followed friday was another nightmare shift. The person who hates me wasn't working that day, but that didn't stop her from showing up multiple times to intimidate me. She also bullied the other person training me not to be allowed to even cover a smoke or anything... and it turned out to be the busiest day because fridays are lottery days, or something. So it was non-stop and I could do nothing but stand behind that register for hours. Finally she had to break their rules to give me a five minute rest, you know defy rules just to be a sane human being. I really didn't want to get her in trouble so I tried to take as few breaks as possible. And i've tried this whole time to just be the best employee I can be, and not complain to person-who-hates-me and not let her get to me. I tried so hard yesterday not to tempt any fate. And I made it through with my job intact, but that one person just seems out for blood. She's pushing me just too hard, and I don't know how to deal. This is not what I signed up for.

And other people are getting in trouble just for defending me! Repeatedly! Like this is getting insane, somehow trying to be goody two shoes I always end up being treated like some troublemaking miscreant, and chaos and misery follow in my wake. I am death, destroyer of worlds.

I finally finished Flash #2. The comic I started forever ago that kinda started the "Oh you thought this job would be chill, here's a blast of not chill!" the spiral that's led to now. Never got around to finishing it cause I'd been busy. It's from the 1940s. Every comic was awful and misogynistic and super offensive back then. I'm only bringing it up cause in this comic The Flash just followed his girlfriend around town protecting her from gangsters while she and her friend tried to stop some corrupt mob racket. She had agency. It passed the Bechtel test. It was the least offensive portrayal of women in comics I've seen yet. Turns out not everyone was the worst back then after all. That deserved mentioning somewhere, especially in this climate where people say of things that happened in the 90s "Well that's history, things were different then."

Geekly Daily of the Week: Sunday November 4

There's been a lot of talk about Diablo Immortal, is that what it was called, and people shitting all over it and blizzard, and then people shitting all over the fans for being the worst for caring so much. Whose right? Are the fans being entitled? Sure. But they are the people who live and breathe Blizzard, the critics of them need to understand that. I can see to a point that DIablo Immortal is not blizzard quality. Of course it's not, it is in fact developed by an outside mobile developer in China. A developer who apparently has made similar games, and are just putting Diablo assets over top of their generic cookie cutter action RPG. So despite all the big names in gaming coming out and calling the one guy dispicable and a monster for asking "Is this a joke" don't get me wrong, Diablo Immortal is a disgusting cash grab and to be touted as a big announcement and be something that disappointing, I don't give a shit but I can understand why people more invested than me might. To me it's just another shitty game I don't have to play, thank god cause I have quite the backlog.

What I personally take offense to is that in the trailer it touts that the game is a "massively multiplayer online" game, and that is just blatant fucking false advertising. It's ten player dungeon crawler, it's not thousands of players in one persistent world, that trailer was all bullshit by some ad dude just using flashy words and lies to distract people into buying their product. That's Donald Trump conservative level bullshit being shoveled into people's mouths by Blizzard, one of the biggest video game companies known for being for their fans first. That's just too bad. I expected better.

The Warcraft 3 remaster looks really nice though. Not to sound the alarms quite so soon, unlike what I've done with Bioware. They done, they've sold out. They're not bioware anymore. But in Blizzard's defense, Warcraft 3 looks good. Of course, I agree 150% with all the other voices saying they should have done Warcraft 2 or 1 first. There's so much that needs to be fixed with those older games, and instead they decided to spruce up a game that kinda held up today. They've spruced it with love, and amazing detail and effort (I read an article about how the city of Statholme has been completely redisgned to resemble it in WOW...which is setting a consistency also hinted at by the movie. Which is amazing), but there's so much more in those older games that really need to be fixed. The lore of the first game is downright broken, and the second game is very barebones, and still contradicts the course set by 3, and then WOW, at numerous points. THEY are the games that need to be reforged. This one was a piece of cake compared to those. So why ignore them? Cause it would be too hard? Thats also not a good sign then in regards to missing the Blizzard of old. The Blizzard that would have done the harder thing because they knew it was the better thing to do, and would better benefit the fans, instead of something easy to make a quick dollar.

Geekly Weekly TV Rankings ( ➤ for new ):
  1. Titans Ep5 *****
I don't know if I was just really in the mood for this show tonight, or if this episode was freaking amazing, but I loved this episode. I laughed at parts of it, there's plot holes like where did that barn come from? Why were they so excited to just lay waste to it? Thank god none of them actually destroyed that tractor. Poor farmer is probably in debt trying to pay that thing off. Also, what was with the adults interrogating the adults and the kids interrogating the kids. Like what? But those were small silly things to laugh about. I loved the character dynamis, Dick getting propositioned repeatedly, and having to turn down motel lady (like a gentleman). then that bedroom fight was amazing, Dick vs the Parents. Then Kory vs the Kids in the hallway. Then Robin vs all of them. And then that twist at the end, amazing. Five Stars. You get #1 of the week. Congratualtions DC.
  2. Legends of Tomorrow *****
Great episode of Legends. I loved Ray's storyline from beginning to end. This episode was fun from beginning to end, even if Nate's plot with Gary seemed completely forgettable. Constantine is being a whiny little bitch and I completely do not regret skipping out on his show. He's just never been a favourite character of mine. Though it was amusing watching him try to kick his father in the groin. I also really liked the shape shifting punk chick who ended up turning into a British Amaya.
  3. South Park****1/2

Great callback episode, referencing the classic episode with Al Gore. I enjoyed that this sort of Meta canon that the show has embraced within the seasons, seem to be spreading to old classic seasons too. With the boys remembering the events of ManBearPig, and seeking out Al Gore. It then continued his story as if nothing had happened. This show is brilliant and so poignant. Maybe a little too on the nose this week, but there were so many great lines. And the references to Red Dead Redemption 2 were hilariously random. This feels so real sometimes. Like real life is not fare removed from the farce they show us on South Park.
  4. Supergirl ****1/2
Another great episode of Supergirl. Another DC show is setting itself up for possibly the best season yet. It was nice pairing Martian Manhunter with new character Manchester Black. From the moment you meet him, he's a lot of fun. Eccentric and dramatic, I enjoyed the scenes with him. I'm worried the President is nefarious. Alex was alright this episode, and it was nice at the end of the episode we got confirmation that Melissa Benoist has finished filming the crossover.
  5. Doctor Who ****1/2
A good fun episode of Doctor Who. I'm getting a little tired of her accidentally leading everyone to their deaths time and time again, only to be saved by a Deus Ex Machina. Usually the Doctor is more self reliant and self capable than that. I think they're trying to say the theme of the season is needing to rely on people, but for the first female Doctor it doesn't help the narrative that a woman can do anything a man can do. I want to see it. In action. I want to be proud of my doctor. And I always am in the end, but if it weren't for dumb luck rescues from strangers in like 2 or 3 episodes now out of 5 she'd be dead as dead gets, all her companions with her. But everything from there has been enjoyable, and I can't fault an episode for the faults of the season.
  6. The Last Ship ****1/2
    I went into
this episode really not wanting to watch it. My DVR has been too overcrowded, and my time so damn limited. But I forced myself to watch it before Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, and to my surprise it kept my interest. It was intense, building up to the finale, somethign I feel like I say every week for this show. Some of the sea maneuvers were dumb, they killed the black guy, and now they might be adding in a subplot that Chandler is going crazy, but they don't seem very interested in spending much time on it, and it's kinda random just introducing that last minute.
  7. Titans ****1/2
I really enjoyed this episode of the show. I really enjoyed the Doom Patrol. They were weird and fun. I was surprised how much this episode lingered on Robotman's pain. And the dynamic of that group was fun and weird. Though I wasn't sure, is their chief a bad guy. He seemed pretty evil. Also it seemed weird how she was okay with him strapping her down, but then 5 seconds later changed her mind and wanted. Why let yourself be strapped down in the first place! What were you expecting? Anyway, I enjoyed everything between Dick and Koriandr. And Koriandr in general. And Dick and Raven. And all things Raven, except getting strapped down. It was definitely the best episode so far of this show. And I like it leans full into the weird. Because that Robotman costume is ridiculous.
  8. The Big Bang Theory****
Great episode of Big Bang Theory. It was fun watching Sheldon try to bond with Amy's parents. Poor Penny seems only adequately sexually satisfied "So practice makes perfect!" "Practice makes...better." Yup, us nerds are doomed to mediocre sex...okay wait now I'm mad. Wait no, it's fine. At least they aren't depicting us as crazy murderers like Riverdale.
  9. Arrow ****
It was an alright episode. I didn't necessarily appreciate the way they were torturing Oliver. Give the man food and water! Stop injecting him with shit! Let the man sleep. How was any of that allowed in a  prison. Meanwhile they spent more time making Dinah even more unlikable than she already was by having her arrest Renee.
  10. The Goldbergs ****
A fun episode of Goldbergs with a lot of great lines and themes. Stamp collecting really is so dumb. The story of Erika's band falling apart was so cliche though, like we haven't seen that story a hundred times. The Bohemian Rap-sody was absolutely hilarious though.
  11. The Good Place ****
That was an amazing episode of the Good Place. Very very funny stuff. I loved all the flashbacks to them being in the titular Good place. Chidi having to choose between puppies, and getting an owl. I'd have been stoked to have an owl. Tahani's Centaur was pretty hilarious too. I got a real kick out of the opening scene where she gets a 3 second memory and loses all her hair and some teeth, but then is okay again 20 minutes late. "The banana must have helped." Yeah, that works. And everywhere they try to have a conversation starts filming porn after they close.
  12. Family Guy ****
I really enjoyed this week's family guy. They played around with their formula, poking fun at themselves. For one they had way too many cut aways, and they played around with them like with the cutaway to the gunrange, and then the next scene it pans over to continue paying off the joke in the cutaway. There were so many crazy lines and ridiculous nonsense moments. If you went into this looking for cohesion or any kind of plot,m this is not that episode. This episode was just random for random sake, and I love that. Not every joke needed to land, but a lot of them did.
  13. The Walking Dead ****
I enjoyed this episode, certainly more than some. I wasn't fooled when they said he would be leaving the show. I mean, I believed that, I just didn't believe they were going to kill him. It smelled from the beginning as a red herring, and I was right, they did a switcheroo. He's leaving the show to film movies in universe continuing his journey, and the show is going to continue on with a new status quo. I feel like doing movies might have been a better choice when they had a larger audience, but who knows. Maybe this will be the trick they need to bring people back. I liked the scene between Negan and Maggie. I liked some of the Rick scenes, though it was laughable how he'd pass out like feet from the walkers, and wake up with still plenty of time to get away. I thought the girl cast as Judith in the fast forward was a little too young for me to believe she's some bad ass. Maybe older then six next time... I think they're hoping she'd grow into it... but I dunno if that's gonna work.
  14.  DuckTales ****

A great episode of Ducktales this week, focusing on the annoying Glomgold, and making him less annoying and more nuanced. I loved his journey as an amnesiac fisherman, and that dream sequence of his was one of the most disturbing things I've seen in a kids cartoon. It was great, and maybe a little traumatizing. Scrooge had only a small role, and was perfectly used, perhaps his role should be sidelined more often. This show has such a great cast of surrounding characters, always a sign of a great cartoon. Remember Nickolodeon's TMNT, the one started in 2012. If you haven't seen it yet, in my opinion it's the best version of TMNT yet, because it's fun for kids and adults, and is written brilliantly. Like this show. These modern cartoons are very good at talking to adults as much as kids, and they are worth watching.
  15.  Riverdale ***1/2
I feel like the best part of this episode was the music. I'm actually a little concerned with the way they are portraying their dungeon's and dragon's metaphor. I mean this is exactly how this christian censors against the game think of it, right? This is exactly voicing the fears people have had for decades surrounding video games, role playing game,s nerd culture in general, and basically saying "Yeah, it's all true." I just, I don't know how to take that. Obviously the show exists in some sort of exaggerated alternate universe, but I just don't see what themes were supposed to be drawing from this.
  16. Star Wars Resistance ***1/2

That was a not bad episode. This show has thankfully improved from its terrible pilot, and I found myself enjoying this episode for the most part.
  17. Saturday Night Live ***
Decent episode this week. I almost missed it. There wasn't much fan fare, and I only saw a mention of it last night and was like "Wha!" But it's was alright. Some sketches made me laugh really hard. Like the Sarah Huckabee one where she's just popping sleeping pills and planking in the middle of her sentences. That cracked me up every time. But a lot of the skits didn't even get a laugh out  of me. I wasn't a big fan of the musical guest. She was really pretty and had a great voice, enough that I kept listening. But her songs were terrible. Forgettable and uninteresting. It's too bad because it's clear she has talent.
  18. The Gifted **1/2
This show is still boring, and it still goes on forever with people talking and talking and talking, and talking about things that happened, and talking about things that they feel, and things that will happen, and talking about who they talk to and when and through it all nothing ever actually happens. It's so damn infuriating. The characters are so good. And the actors are so good. And I love the X-men. But damn this show is just so bad. And it's all the writers. It's like they just don't know how to play with the toys in the toybox.
